Details
Makeni Institute Trust is seeking to recruit a qualified and highly motivated Handyman / Maintenance Technician to join our maintenance team.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out routine maintenance and repairs of buildings, equipment, and facilities.
- Perform plumbing repairs, including water supply and drainage systems.
- Diagnose and repair basic electrical faults and installations.
- Undertake mechanical fitting and maintenance of machinery and equipment.
- Perform carpentry, painting, welding, and other general maintenance works as required.
- Conduct regular inspections to identify maintenance needs and prevent breakdowns.
- Respond promptly to maintenance emergencies.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean, safe working environment.
- Ensure all maintenance work complies with health and safety standards.
Minimum Requirements
- Diploma, or Craft qualification in Mechanical Fitting, Electrical Engineering, Plumbing, General Maintenance, Building Maintenance, or a related technical field from a recognised institution.
- At least 3 years' practical experience in building or facility maintenance.
- Demonstrable knowledge of plumbing, electrical systems, metal fabrication, mechanical fitting, and general repairs.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and maintenance manuals will be an added advantage.
- A valid driver's licence will be an added advantage.

- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Honest, reliable, and self-motivated.
- Physically fit and capable of undertaking manual work.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to prioritise tasks and respond effectively to emergencies.
