The Ethics Officer is responsible for promoting and maintaining a culture of integrity, accountability, and ethical conduct across the organization. The role supports the implementation of the organization's ethics program by ensuring compliance with the Code of Conduct, applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies. The Ethics Officer provides guidance on ethical matters, manages ethics awareness initiatives, investigates reported misconduct, and works with management to strengthen ethical governance and organizational integrity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote ethical behavior and ensure adherence to the organization's Code of Conduct and ethical standards.
  • Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the organization's ethics program.
  • Provide guidance and advice to employees and management on ethical issues and conflict-of-interest matters.
  • Receive, document, and coordinate the investigation of ethics-related complaints, misconduct, and policy violations.
  • Maintain confidential ethics reporting mechanisms, including whistleblower channels.
  • Conduct ethics risk assessments and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
  • Develop and deliver ethics awareness and compliance training programs for employees.
  • Monitor compliance with organizational values, ethical policies, and governance requirements.
  • Prepare ethics reports, dashboards, and recommendations for senior management.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources, Internal Audit, Legal, and Compliance teams to address ethical concerns.
  • Monitor changes in relevant laws, regulations, and industry best practices affecting organizational ethics.
  • Support the development and review of ethics-related policies, procedures, and communication materials.
  • Promote a workplace culture built on integrity, transparency, fairness, and accountability.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Law, Business Administration, Corporate Governance, Public Administration, Human Resource Management, Risk Management, or a related field.
  • Professional certification such as Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), or an equivalent qualification is an added advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5–8 years of progressive experience in ethics, compliance, corporate governance, internal audit, legal services, risk management, or a related field.
  • Experience handling ethics investigations, compliance monitoring, or governance programs within a corporate, government, NGO, or regulated environment is preferred.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong knowledge of ethics, corporate governance, and compliance principles.
  • Understanding of applicable laws, regulations, and organizational policies.
  • Excellent investigative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong report writing and documentation abilities.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment.
  • Strong conflict resolution and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ethics/compliance management systems.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
